I don’t meditate. I never seem to find a whole 5 minutes to sit with myself, much less 20 or more.
I don’t doubt the benefits of meditation. I’m sure it would be quite helpful to me. Greta Christina has an excellent series on her secular meditation practice, and I love reading about how helpful it’s been for her.
But, for me, I haven’t giving the idea my attention enough to bring it to reality.
What I do is breathe. Sometimes. For just a minute.
Even focusing on my breath for just 2 or 3 breaths brings amazing calmness to my feeling.
Sometimes I just breathe.
Sometimes I focus on a simple idea of something I want to breathe in.

I breathe in peace.
I breathe in strength.
I breathe in joy.
I breathe in calm.
I’ll choose one of these ideas and breathe it in for 2 or 3 breaths.
When I am done, I go on through my day with more of that idea.
I am more peaceful, stronger, more joyful, or calmer.
Do you ever take a moment to breathe yourself into a different frame of mind or mood?
What do you breathe in?
